You should then be able to eject your disc, select your game in the menu, and play it. If your game isn't showing up, be sure to click the filter options at the top and make sure Wii (and Gamecube) are selected, click OK, and now it should be there. GameCube games settings. Launch USB Loader GX; Go to Settings Loader Settings. Mod-Chip will bypass copy protection and let you boot backups from DVD-R and DVD-RW discs as if they were original games. With a Mod-Chip in your Wii you can also play GameCube Roms, Emulated SEGA Genesis, Super Nintendo, NES and other rom games as well as run Linux and use your Wii as DivX, Xvid, MPEG4 player and play DVDs from all regions. Gamecube import mod for Japanese games. One way was to load up the Loader disc, to trick the system into reading the region code on that disc, and then there's a 'pause' menu type screen where you can pop that disc out and put in your import disc, and it'll continue the game, without reading the region code on the import disc.

Mod Gamecube To Play Backups

So lately I've been getting all my old consoles up and running again. I got my old PS2 setup and I'm using Free McBoot so I can play PS2 games without needing to track down copies of games. Free McBoot also allows me to do other stuff with the console that I otherwise wouldn't be able to do such as homebrew. Lately I've been looking to get my GameCube up and running again but I need to buy a few things before I do that. Anyways I've been thinking alot about my free McBoot setup for my PS2 and am wondering what the gameCube equivalent is. I know there's stuff out there like SD media launcher but I'm not really sure what's up with that. I saw a YouTube video where some guy bought one online supposedly from an official source that sells and makes them but his SD card didn't fit and he had to modify the casing to make it work. in the comments of that video like 90% of the comments are people claiming they bought the same product the guy in the video did and the disc used to launch the homebrew software doesn't work or that there's major issues with reading SD cards and stuff like that. So I'm curious if anyone hears has any more info to shed on the situation and might also be able to give me some recommendations. i really wanna get a setup going where I don't need to use official game discs as most of my original game library has been lost over the years.

Mod Wii To Play Gamecube Backups

Backup Launchers‎ > ‎

GameCube Loaders

The Wii is backwards compatible with GameCube games. As such, it is also able to play GameCube backups.
In order to load GameCube backups, you need an additional GameCube loader. There are various methods available; you will need one of the following:
Method Loads from vWii CompatibleExtra
cMIOS - Disc No - Supports compressed ISO
- Supports multi-game discs
- Plays backups through Disc channel (requires patched system menu IOS)
DIOS-MIOS - Disc
- USB
No - Supports compressed ISO
- Supports memory card emulation (partially)
DIOS-MIOS Lite - Disc
- SD card
No - Supports compressed ISO
- Supports memory card emulation (partially)
Devolution - USB
- SD card
Yes - Doesn't use MIOS
- Near perfect game compatibility
- Requires original game disc to authenticate (once per game per HDD)
- Supports memory card emulation
- Supports audio streaming
- Supports multiple controllers (WiiMote, Classic Controller, PS3 controller, ...)
Nintendont
(Recommended)
- USB
- SD card
Yes - Doesn't use MIOS
- Very high game compatibility
- Supports compressed and uncompressed ISO
- Supports memory card emulation (partially)
- Supports audio streaming
- Supports GameCube and HID-compliant controllers
- Supports WiiMote, WiiU Pro Controller and a few others

It is recommended to use Nintendont, as it has high compatibility, is easy to install and works well with existing USB loaders.
Notes:
  • Loading from Disc: Loads from standard DVD or a mini-DVD. Multiple games can be put on the same DVD through the Multigame ISO creator.
    • Will not work on newer Wiis and WiiU due to drive incompatibility.
  • vWii Compatible: Works on the WiiU virtual Wii mode.
  • Doesn't use MIOS: Normally, GameCube games are loaded though the MIOS. These launchers use methods to bypass the MIOS.
    • Note that there is only 1 MIOS on the Wii, so only one MIOS-related launcher can be installed at the same time.
    • The launchers that don't use the MIOS can coexist with other launchers.
  • Memory card emulation: Ability to emulate GameCube memory cards through save files on SD card.
  • Audio Streaming: Only certain GameCube games use audio streaming. An incompatible loader means the game will play, but without sound.
